Publication Society at TUF organized an engaging panel discussion titled “Earning While Learning: Skills, Platforms, and Opportunities in Freelancing” on October 22, 2025, The distinguished panel included Mr Usama Khalid, Top-rated Upwork Consultant, Business Developer, and Director, Liverpool John Moores University, Mr Talha Jamil, Chief Executive Officer, Brand Lab, and Founder & President, Innovative Youth Circle, and Ms Maryam Hassan, Chief Executive Officer, Edgifye Group. During the discussion, speakers highlighted key challenges students face when entering the freelancing world—such as communication barriers, inconsistent workflow, and time management—and proposed effective strategies to overcome them. They shared valuable guidance on profile optimization, networking, and developing specialized skills, encouraging students to adopt a disciplined approach and stay updated with market trends.
The panelists also introduced students to various freelancing platforms and internship opportunities, inspiring them to convert their academic learning into professional success. An interactive question-and-answer session allowed participants to seek expert advice on client engagement, portfolio building, and in-demand skill acquisition. The event concluded with Prof Dr Nailah Riaz, Head of the Department of English Language and Literature, presenting souvenirs to the guest speakers in appreciation of their contributions. The session proved to be an enlightening experience, empowering students to explore freelancing as a meaningful and sustainable career path alongside their studies.
