3rd IEEE Summit on Artificial Intelligence in Information and Communication

The 3rd IEEE Summit on Artificial Intelligence in Information and Communication, organized by the Computer Science department, on November 2, 2023, was held in high spirits at Amin Campus of The University of Faisalabad. With an aim to explore the frontiers of Artificial Intelligence, it brought together luminaries, scholars, and enthusiasts including pioneering experts, inquisitive researchers, and learners from different backgrounds through their united interest in comprehensively exploring the AI horizon.

Keynote address of the summit was delivered by trailblazer of his field Prof Dr Waqar Mehmood (Director Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS), UET, LHR) who skilfully elaborated the adaptation of global AI trends in the field of Information and Communication Technology. Gracing this event were dignitaries IEEE Chair Lahore Section Mr. Kashif Bashir, and his team members Mr. Muhammad Rizwan, Mr. Hamza Ihtisham, and Mr. Shahid Zulfiqar who put forth intellectual viewpoints in various sessions, motivating the youth with their insightful talks and introducing IEEE as a platform in different countries. The illuminating invited talks of Prof Dr Nadeem Javed (CS Dept., Comsats, ISD), Prof Dr Arfan Jaffar (Dean Faculty of Computer Science & Information Technology (FCSIT) Superior University, LHR), and Prof Dr Syed Ali Hassan (EE Dept., NUST, ISD) at the summit were nothing short of exceptional, demystifying the advanced realm of Artificial Intelligence including the transformative power of AI, AI-embedded 6G, advanced cyber security, economic development, and the sensor world.

 

One of the distinguished speakers, Prof Dr. Kashif Kifayat (Director National Centre for Cyber Security, ISD) illuminated the audience with a comprehensive discourse on AI in cybersecurity. His insights offered a crucial glimpse into the critical importance of AI algorithms in cybersecurity in an interconnected world. Fusing academic concepts with Quranic verses, one significant speaker Prof. Dr. Ali Hammad Akbar (Chairman Department of Computer Engineering (CE), UET LHR) brought a harmonious blend of Artificial Intelligence and spirituality embedded pedagogies to the stage. This unique perspective shed light on the potential sync between technology and faith, creating a captivating dialogue that enriched the summit's discourse.

A well-performed and informative panel discussion session was served by Prof. Dr. Shafay Shamail (LUMS, LHR), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Awais (LUMS, LHR), Prof. Dr. Hammad Naveed (Director, FAST, LHR), Prof. Dr. Sultan Zia (NFC-Institute of Engineering and Fertilizer Research (IEFR), FSD), Prof. Dr. Ghufran Khan (Fast, FSD). Discussions taking place at the summit offered diverse viewpoints and solutions to the most pressing challenges in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Each session provided valuable insights and a broader perspective on the evolving AI landscape. The esteemed presence of the Guests of Honor, Prof. Dr. Shahzad Sarfraz (Director, FAST, FSD), and Prof. Dr. Hammad Naveed (Director, FAST, LHR) served as a beacon, guiding us through the summit's intricate web of sessions, discussions, and interactions. Their invaluable contributions and unwavering support added a touch of distinction to every facet of the summit. The summit concluded as Principal Coordinator and the Head of the Computer Science Department, Prof Dr Majid Hussain expressed gratitude to all the esteemed guests, participants, and speakers. Acknowledging the tireless efforts of the management team, he commended their meticulous planning and execution.
