Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Specialization in Electronics, Power & Computer System)

Eligibility: FSc (Pre-Engineering) with minimum 60% marks or its equivalent from any Pakistani or foreign institute recognized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

At the dawn of twenty-first century, the field of Electrical Engineering expanded far beyond its historical roots to encompass almost any area of Engineering activity that depends in some sense, on electrical phenomena. The dramatic growth in the intellectual span of this field requires us to be in line with the changing technology of today. Keeping abreast with the industrial requirements, Electrical Engineering program of The University of Faisalabad has been carefully structured to meet the growing needs of competent Engineers in Pakistan and to produce professionals with a suitable platform to pursue higher studies in Pakistan, as well as abroad. Bachelor of Electrical Engineering program of The University of Faisalabad has been duly accredited by Pakistan Engineering Council.


Graduates of the Electrical Engineering programs at the University of Faisalabad will have

Program Structure:

The Undergraduate programs in Electrical Engineering offers students a platform which will enable them to be productive in the fields of Electrical Engineering profession, compete effectively for jobs with medium and large national and international companies and to be actively contributing citizens of Pakistan. Engineering curriculum has specially been designed to inculcate thinking process logically, in order to reach sound technical and innovative solutions for various technical problems. Special emphasis has been laid on developing communication and presentation ability of the students. The program has been designed keeping in view guide lines of HEC and PEC. Students are required to take 8 semesters in 4 years. In addition, students are also required to take courses in Basic Sciences and Islamic Studies/ Pakistan Studies.

The Electrical Engineering programs provide opportunity to the students to gain in-depth knowledge in the fields of electronics, telecommunications, controls and instrumentation. Our students are also expected to acquire key skills such as logical thinking, report writing, presentation skills, and team work. Our graduates will move on to a wide variety of career opportunities in the fields of electrical, electronics, powercontrol, instrumentation, communication and computer system engineering. We lay emphasis on not only producing good engineers with analytical skills, but also making our graduates good citizens of Pakistan.

Practical Work:

No Engineering program is complete without practical work. Laboratories, with latest state of the art lab equipment have been established to cover complete spectrum of the engineering curriculum. Well-equipped labs in the area of Basic Electronics, Digital Electronics Power Electronics, Industrial Electronics, Electrical Machines, Electrical Power Distribution, Electrical Power Distribution, Power Generation, Power System Protection, High Voltage Engineering, Control and Simulation, Measurements & Instrumentation,  Microprocessor Systems, VLSI, Wave Propagation & Antenna, and Telecommunication System, have been established in order to give hands on experience to the students. A general purpose workshop was also conducted where students got enough practice on machine work, carpentry, electrical wiring and other aspects of basic engineering. The Computer Lab with latest machines and free internet facility has also been provided. In addition, simulation softwares are available to simulate complex engineering processes. Students are encouraged to complete projects of industrial usage in hardware as well as in software.

Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering

Short Title: MS (Electrical)
Duration: 4 Semesters (2 years)
Credit Hours: 30
Eligibility: An applicant must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
i. Must be a registered PEC Engineer
ii. Should have passed Graduate Assessment Test (GAT) organized by National Testing Service (NTS)
iii. Must have passed Bachelor in Engineering with a CGPA of minimum 2.5 or an aggregate percentage of 60% in annual system

Program Description:

The Master’s program aims to provide an avenue of higher learning to fresh graduating engineers and also to engineers already working in the field and industry. Moreover, it will incorporate the latest developments and research and contribute towards improving the quality of engineering teaching and instruction. The School of Electrical Engineering at TUF already has a well-established Bachelor’s program that has been producing quality engineering graduates since 2006. Currently the school has faculty members holding Doctorates and Masters Degrees from well-reputed universities. These faculty members possess extensive field, research and teaching experience. The faculty members are active in research work and have numerous publications in refereed research journals with impact factors. They also participate and present papers in national and international conferences, thereby keep abreast of the latest research work and also keeping in touch with the national and international research community. The Department has a number of well-equipped laboratories to support experimental work relating to Master’s projects. Various advanced software programs can be utilized by graduate students to carry out simulations, design-work and mathematical-modeling. The University has an excellent library that houses a very large number of Electrical Engineering books, both in paper and soft (digital) form. The library also has access to the HEC digital library. The School will also facilitate research work by providing graduate with access to IEEE explore and other prestigious research journals.

  • To provide an in-depth understanding of the mathematical concepts underlying the design, analysis and operation of modern electronic, power and communication systems.
  • To understand and resolve the power systems issue using smart grids, renewable energy resources and other modern available techniques.

  • To be commensurate with the need of the industry by providing professionals who are able to engage in the latest (theoretical and practical) R &D.


The Semester system regulations currently followed will also be applicable at the MS level. The policies for the MS program are the following:

  • The requirement for the completion of the MS program is a minimum of 30 credit hours. Each MS course is of 03 credit hours and the MS thesis is of 06 credit hours. Thus the requirement to complete the MS degree is 08 Courses, Proposal Defense,a Research Paper in HEC recognized Journal and a Thesis.
  • If an MS course has a required pre-requisite, and a student admitted to the MS program does not have that pre-requisite, then he must complete that pre-requisite at the undergraduate level before he can enroll for the MS course.
  • Students may not register for more than 03 courses in one semester.
  • A student can register his thesis only with the postgraduate faculty members of the School of Electrical Engineering. The list is available on The University of Faisalabad Website.
  • A co-supervisor can be selected from another School of The University of Faisalabad or from another University of repute or from the industry (PEC registered Engineers only) through the approval of the Dean of the Faculty.
Course Requirements:

The division of marks in a course will be as follows:

  • 30% of the total marks for the Midterm examination
  • Sessional marks (assignments, presentations, etc.) will have a weightage of 20% which will also include 10% of the total marks for the final viva.
  • 50% of the total marks for the Final examination Aggregate pass marks in a course will be 50%. However, a student will pass a course only if he obtains at least 50% marks separately in the Midterm exam, Final exam and Sessional Marks.


MS Electrical Engineering

MS Electrical Engineering students will have to enroll and qualify at least 8 courses (24 credit hours) from the following list of postgraduate courses. The choice of courses in each semester will be determined by head of school/Professor in charge of the program.

PhD in Electrical Engineering

Short Title: PhDEE
Duration: 6 Semesters (3 years)
Credit Hours: 18 Credit hours of Course work Research thesis has to be completed in 4 semesters after completing course work and qualifying comprehensive examination.
Eligibility: MS Electrical Engineering with minimum 3 CGPA must have qualified GAT subject organized by NTS or GRE test. The Candidates having research publication(s) will be preferred.

The School of Electrical Engineering is running Bachelor and Master degree programs successfully since 2002 and 2010 respectively. The School is offering PhD program in Electrical engineering under the guidance of PhD faculty in the School. The program is focusing on the course work within their specialty which will lead them to undertake creative and original piece of research for their degree. Our PhD faculty members will participate in the Doctoral Programs by providing their services as Academic Advisers, Research Supervisors or as Members of Research Supervisory Committees.

To achieve better success rate in PhD we are inviting those candidates who have very good academic record. Further the school has planned an admission test to judge the capacity for critical and constructive thinking with potential to produce creative research. PhD research areas may be from the fields of Power System Automation, Smart Grid Systems, Renewable Energy and Micro grids, Power Electronics, Electronics, Control, Wireless Communication, Signal Processing, and Computer Engineering. The successful students are expected to have bright future and choose their careers in research and teaching at higher education institutes, R&D organizations, local and foreign companies striving for innovation and development.
