About Us

The value of skin as an organ is unquestionable. The mere fact that skin ascribes identity and makes a human being presentable and attractive to others is sufficient evidence for its importance. Moreover the wide range of functions that skin performs from temperature regulation to fluid and electrolyte balance demand a good care of this vital organ system.

Currently in Pakistan, the only health care professionals dealing with skin related diseases are Dermatologists and general physicians. By Dec 2018, there are 611 Dermatologists registered with Pakistan Association of Dermatologists, making a ratio of 1: 32, 733 for a 20 million population. On the other hand the general physicians practicing in Pakistan have attended only a 2 credit hours Dermatology course during their 5 years MBBS degree with very little practical exposure to patients with skin diseases. There is a huge gap in health professions regarding skin care and prevention of skin diseases.

The School of Dermatological Sciences at The University of Faisalabad designed a 5 years course to achieve excellence in skincare by educating skin care experts having relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes to take care of skin in all age groups.
