The closing ceremony of Annual Sports Gala was held at Engineering Campus followed by live performance of Abrar ul Haq at mesmerizing musical night on February 16, 2018.
The mega event was presided by Prof Dr Zaheer Javed Paracha, Pro Rector Engineering Campus. Mr Muhammad Farooq Yousaf, Senior Vice President, FCCI was the chief guest while Engr Ahmad Hassan, Chairman Standing Committee on R&D FCCI was guest of honour. In first session, the winners of final rounds of different sports and athletic competitions including, cricket, volley ball, basket ball, foot ball, handball, table tennis, badminton, tug of war and athletics were awarded with trophies and medals by the chief guest. Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar, Mr Hamid Nawaz Sheikh, Controller Examination, Heads of Schools, faculty members and large number of students were present in the ceremony. Final trophy for overall best performance was won by Electrical Wolves while Computer Eagles remained runner up. Mr Adnan Ali from Electrical Wolves won the best sportsman award of the year. Management Stallions were declared the most disciplined team of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Muhammad Farooq Yousaf appreciated the TUFIAN’s active participation and sportsmen spirits. Dr Zaheer Javed Paracha stressed on the importance of sports and co-curricular activities for the students, in his address.
In second session, renowned singer Abrar ul Haq enthralled the TUFIANS with his Sufiana Kalam. Abrar ul Haq sang number of songs and received an immense applause and admiration from the audience.
A seminar on “Career Counseling” was organized by UMDC Alumnae Association for the 4th and final year medical students on January 25, 2018. Dr Muqaddas Shafiq, Chief Coordinator, UK Chapter, UMDC Alumnae Association briefed the student about getting entry into UK and Ireland and counseled them further how to excel properly in their careers. There was an overwhelming response from students and they cleared their queries by asking questions. Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Pro Rector, Health Sciences Campus, TUF, graced the occasion as chief quest. In his address, he appreciated the efforts of the members of Aumnae Association for organizing this useful session for medical students. Prof Dr Tanzeela Akram, Head Department of Physiology, Abu Umara Medical and Dental College also expressed her views. Organizers of the event, Dr Saba Tariq, President, UMDC Alumnae Association, Dr Sundus Tariq, Vice President and Dr Uzma Sagheer, Chief Coordinator Pakistan Chapter thanked the guests for attending the event. In concluding session, students were awarded participation certificates by the chief guest.
QEC (Quality Enhancement Cell) organized a training session under PCEP (Professional Competency Enhancement Program) on the subject “Conducting Research; A theoretical Perspective” at The University of Faisalabad Engineering Campus on 11 Jan 2018. Dr. Shahzad Iqbal carried out a very interactive session which covers the various aspects of research and its theoretical perspective. A theoretical perspective is vital for research because it serves to organize our thoughts and ideas and make them clear to others. Faculty members and lab engineers participated in the training session and cleared out their ambiguities regarding the ongoing research work.
Career counselling includes a wide variety of professional activities which help in dealing with career related challenges. In this regard, a career counselling workshop was arranged by student affairs for final year students of electrical engineering. It was hampered that many working professionals do not find the right job/career immediately after completing their degree, thus the process of changing jobs continues. The students were guided about how to make decisions like career management, going for the additional education courses or hunting for a suitable job.
Department of Medical Education, University Medical & Dental College organized a seminar on “Oncoplastic Breast Surgery” on January 11, 2018.
Dr Saira Saleem, Department of Surgery, Madinah Teaching Hospital in her presentation said, with 90,000 breast cancer cases being annually reported in the country and over 40,000 deaths caused by it, Pakistan has the highest rate of breast cancer in Asia. She gave a comprehensive a lecture on Oncoplastic Breast Surgery method.
Prof Dr Sadia Hameed, Head Department of Pathology, UMDC in her address briefed about “Role of Pathology Department in Integrated Breast Clinic Services”.
Prof Dr Nayab Alia, Head Department of Radiology, MTH gave her views on “Role of Radiology Department in Integrated Breast Clinic Services”. She said MTH is equipped with latest machinery including Ultrasonography, Digital Mammography with Sterotactic Biopsy and dedicated Breast MRI to facilitate patients.
Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Principal UMDC in his address emphasized to create awareness amongst the women as early detection of breast cancer can make the disease easier to treat and increases survival rates.
A panel discussion was also held on breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, actively participated by the senior doctors from Madinah Teaching Hospital and Allied Hospital Faisalabad.
Later, ‘Breast Cancer Clinic’ was also inaugurated by a cancer patient in MTH. Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Brig (Retd) Dr Munir Ahmad, MS MTH and other senior doctors were present on the occasion.
A seminar on “Death Anniversary of MaulanaAbdurRehman Jami (RA) and Syedana Mohyuddin Ibne-Arabi (RA)” was held on auspices of Religious Society of the School of Arabic and Islamic Sciences. Muhammad Hamid Nawaz Sheikh, Controller of Examination presided over the function. Dr. M. Ramzan was the guest speaker who shed light on the life and services of both great scholars. He added that Syedana Ibne-Arabi was the author of 500 books and a great Sufi who presented the idea of “Wahdat-ul-Wajood”. The idea of Wahdat-ul-Wajood cannot be understood without the guidelines provided by MaulanaAbdurRehman Jami. The function ended with Salat-o-Salam
Religious Society TUF organized an Islamic event to commemorate “Death anniversary of Hazrat Abdullah bin Muhammad (SAW) and Urs Syedna Muhayuddin Ibn-e-Arbi (RA)” in Health Sciences Campus on January 03, 2018. Faculty members and students from various schools of TUF attended the spiritual event, culminated with Drood o Salam and Dua.
Mehfil-e-Mushaera Eid Milad-un-Nabi (S.A.W) was held on December 14, 2017 in Mukhtar Auditorium under the auspices of religious society of the School of Arabic and Islamic Sciences. Twelve well-known poets participated in the mushaira and presented their fresh verses in the praise of Holy Prophet (S.A.W). A large number of faculty members and students attended the function. The audience appreciated the poems with open heart. Prof. M Aslam Malik thanked the poets, guests, faculty members and students on behalf of the department, administration and religious society. The function ended with Salat-o-Salam and dua.
School of Computational Sciences, The University of Faisalabad, Engineering Campus organized a series of technical Lectures on Thursday, 13-12-2017, at Mukhtar Auditorium. Keeping in view the industrial requirements, the experts from IEEE, AL Khawarizmi Institute of Computer science, UET Lahore and I.T Industry delivered lectures on the emerging technologies. The students of BS Computer Sciences, Software Engineering & Engineering Technology attended the session. Certificates were given to the participants and shields were presented to faculty and the event organisers.
To celebrate 15 years of excellence, The University of Faisalabad organized a welcome party for the new students. The aroma of food, and colors were all around. It was such a wonderful start for the new students. Students came in huge number to attend the exciting party that had been arranged for them. The event started with a blistering performance of the senior students coming and mesmerizing everyone with their exhilarating performance. Renowned singers Mehak Ali, Sana Zulfiqar, Waqas Ali, Aash Chugtai and Uzair Ahmad performed a variety of musical styles and blew away everyone with their performances. A short comedy skit was also performed by well-known comedian Aman-ullah Khan. The crowd roared, shouted and danced until no energy has been left. The party was well-managed by the combined efforts of students and the management. Everyone enjoyed to their fullest, and left with a smile on their faces and joy inside.
