School of Nutrition and Dietetics organized Food Festival to mark World Food Day in The University of Faisalabad, Sargodha Road.
Stalls having a wide variety of quality food products were set up by the students of DND showcasing their products and services. These food stalls attracted large number of faculty members and students. The event was supervised by Prof Dr Syed Jawad Hussain, Head School of Nutrition and Dietetics.
In conjunction with World Sight day, School of Optometry organized School Children Eye Screening camp. Students of Doctor of Optometry, 9th semester conducted this activity in University Cambridge School, Sargodha Road, Faisalabad.
Screening was based on anterior eye examination, refractive errors, squint and BSV assessment. Total number of 130 students was evaluated from class 1 to 8. Both genders were screened for ocular examination and visual acuity.
The main outcomes of this program were found as refractive errors in 43 students, strabismus in 5 children and allergic eye conditions in 25 students. Also 36 students had 6/6 vision. The major factor was of decrease of vision upon testing through VA Snellen chart. After refractive errors strabismus was second most common finding. Allergies of eye were also found. Teachers were counseled about students’ conditions and how to manage them.
Retinal diseases are among the most common causes of vision loss in the global working population. School of Optometry, The University of Faisalabad observed World Retina day on October 03, 2017. Students of Doctor of Optometry distributed flyers among the patients in Madinah Teaching Hospital to enlighten the importance of the day and to raise awareness of eye health and vision care among the public.
Owing to the growing inclination of people towards junk food, students of Doctor of Nutrition and Dietetics (semester VII) arranged food stalls where they presented food which was not only appealing to the eye but carried with it numerous nutritional benefits. The idea behind this initiative was to spread awareness among people about the ways through which they can incorporate healthy yet flavorsome foods in their diet by making use of cost-effective ingredients. As part of the HEC celebrations, this idea proved to be a success and garnered praises from the judges who had come to evaluate their food items.
15th anniversary celebrations of TUF are being held in the University. A cake cutting ceremony in an august event was organized in Health Sciences campus to mark the day.
Speaking at the event, Maj (Retd) Izhar ul Ahsan, Registrar and Prof Dr Aamir Ali Chaudhry, Vice Principal, UMDC said that Madinah Foundation, in the light of its Founder Chairman Haji Muhammad Saleem’s, vision; industry, service and education, had set an extraordinary example of what it means for business leaders to give back to the community.
They highlighted the values that had sustained the university, the people who had shaped it and its enduring mission of service through teaching, research and civic engagement. They said that since its inception in October 2002, TUF had seen tremendous growth.
Earlier, Prof Dr Zahid Masood, in his address focused on the 15 years progress and achievements of the University.
A large number faculty members, staff and students were present in the ceremony.
School of Pharmacy observed World Pharmacists Day in Health Sciences Campus on September 27, 2017. Dr Farooq Azam, Head Department of Pharmacy, University of Agriculture Faisalabad was the chief guest while Dr Ghulam Hussain, Plant Manager, Saffron Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd was guest of honour. They expressed their views about the role and importance of pharmacists in the field of health and other related walks of life. On this occasion, an awareness walk to highlight the impact and added value of the pharmacy profession and its role in improving the health of people was also arranged by the School of pharmacy.
School of Pharmacy, TUF organized a workshop on “Recent Innovations of Pharmaceutical Services” on September 26, 2017 in Health Sciences Campus.
Dr Tahir Mehmood, Chief Hospital Pharmacist, DHQ, Sargodha was the guest speaker. Speaking to the audience, Dr Tahir Mehmood delivered a comprehensive lecture on recent innovations in the field of Pharmaceutics. The session was very useful and informative for the students of School of Pharmacy.
School of Management Studies, TUF organized ‘Whiz Whale 17, Entrepreneurial Gala’ in Health Sciences Campus on September 26, 2017. The event aimed to encourage the students to take creative initiatives.
Mrs Amna Khurram, Creative Directive of KHAS, graced the event as chief guest. Mrs Amna Khurram, Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector and Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar alongwith other faculty members visited the stalls setup by the students from different disciplines. Students projected and simulated the idea of launching their companies. The event showcased some brilliant examples of student entrepreneurship.
A group from BBA-V projected and simulated the idea of electronics items by launching their company “ Simplitronix” got first prize in the competition. Another group of students also from BBA-V illuminated their efforts by presenting their unique idea of “Tea time” was the 2nd while BBA students with idea of “ Dross Cafe “ remained third.
Mrs Amna Khurram appreciated the talented TUFIANS. These are the young people who take on challenges and find solutions that will radically change the way we do business, she further added. The winners were given away the prizes by the chief guest.
In context of HEC 15 years celebrations, TUF Sports Society organized Intra University table tennis championship on September 18, 2017. Students from various Schools of TUF participated in the competitions. Urwa Munawwar and Aqsa Niazi from Doctor of Physical Therapy grabbed first position after a thrilling final competition. Pharm D team consisting of Iqra Shah and Iqra Lateef was the runner up.
