TUF Community vows full support to Pak armed forces

A gathering was held in The University of Faisalabad to show solidarity with the Pakistan armed forces on February 28, 2019. Addressing on the occasion Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Pro rector (Health Sciences) expressed that the entire nation was united on one page for the integrity and solidarity of the country. ”We are a peace loving nation, however our brave armed forces can give a befitting reply to any foreign aggression” he added. Dr Saeed also appreciated the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s efforts to promote peace in the region. TUF Community vowed to full support to Pakistani armed forces.  A prayer was offered for the stability, prosperity and integrity of the motherland and unity of the Muslim Ummah.

UHS Debate Competition (Zonal Level)

UHS Debate Competition (Zonal Level) was held in The University of Faisalabad on February 27, 2019.

Students from four Medical Institutes; Faisalabad Medical University, Aziz Fatima Medical & Dental College, Independent Medical College and University Medical & Dental College participated in English and Urdu debates. The topic of English debate was “Old is Gold” while “Kehtay Hain Jis Ko Ishaq, Khalal Hay Dmagh Ka” was Urdu. Prof Dr Shahida Yousuf from GC University Faisalabad and Mrs Katrina Hurbik

Assistant Professor, Department of English Language & Literature, University of Lahore were the chairpersons. The results were as follows:

Dr Farkhanda Jabeen, Assistant Professor, Islam Medical College Sialkot, Dr Imtiaz Tahir, Chairman Allied Health Sciences, GC University Faisalabad and other eminent guests from all medical colleges of Faisalabad attended the event.

 

Awareness Seminar on “Cyber Crimes”

An awareness seminar on “Cyber Crimes” was organized for Students of School of Nursing on February 26, 2019. Mr Zain Ali Qureshi, Advocate High Court, Expert in Cyber Crime Laws was the guest speaker.

Mr Zain delivered compressive lecture on Social Networking Crimes, E-Mail related Crimes and Financial Crimes. He explained about the preventive measures to avoid these crimes and how to register a cyber crime complaint in FIA. He emphasized the importance of such events for raisings awareness about emerging cyber crimes in Pakistan.

Dr Muhammad Akhtar Pervaiz, Deputy Director Academics Nursing and Paramedics, Col (Retd) Nargis Rehmat, Deputy Director Nursing and Ms Chanda Riaz, Vice Principal School of Nursing also attended the seminar.

DPT Students Visit Child Dream Center (CDC)

Students of Doctor of Physical Therapy (final semester) visited Child Dream Center (CDC), an institute for special children in Faisalabad on February 13, 2019. The visit was arranged by the Rehabilitation Society of TUF. The purpose of the visit was to broaden the vision of students about different approaches to deal with special population and the role of multidisciplinary team.  Ms Samreen Afzal and Dr Imtiaz Dogar briefed the visiting team about the services being offered at the center.

Seminar on “Industrial Applications of Electron Beam”

A Seminar on “Industrial Applications of Electron Beam” was organized in Health Sciences Campus of TUF on February 20, 2019.  Renowned Pakistani scientist and researcher Dr Shaukat Parvez former Chairman PCSIR Islamabad was the guest speaker.

In his presentation about Electron Beam (E-Beam) technology, Dr Shaukat Parvez told that E-Beam was the abbreviation for an environmentally safe, heat and solvent free technique. E-Beam technology is highly useful in various fields. In USA and European countries it is being used in different fields i.e Aseptic packages, Food preservations, Polymer cross linking, Heat shrink polymer, Wires and cables, Sterilization of medical devices, Pharmaceutics, Pollution control, Semiconductors production, Rubber and tyres curing, Composite material curing, Coloring of Glass & Gems industry and many more. This technology reduces, eliminates diseases causing micro- organisms from Pharma & Food products. It Increases the shelf life of food products with no change in nutritional value. It is preferred technology by the industry due to cost effectiveness.

Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Pro Rector (Health Sciences) and Prof Dr Zahir Javed Paracha Pro Rector (Engineering) also shared their views and showed keen interest to use E-Beam technology for scientific research in the University. Muhammad Haider Amin, Chairman BoG in his concluding remarks thanked the guest speaker for his valuable lecture.

Theme of hybrid entrepreneurship

School of Management Studies, The University of Faisalabad Engineering Campus held a seminar from ORIC Department, in collaboration with Business Incubation Center. The agenda was to establish & develop the new “Theme” of hybrid entrepreneurship. Mr. Azhar Rasool participated as the guest speaker. Additional Registrar of Engineering Campus, Dr. Najeeb Haider, Faculty members and a large number of students attended the seminar

Women Foundation donated Electric Scooters to TUF students

Women Foundation of The University of Faisalabad donated three electric rechargeable scooters to the deserving students. Mrs Parveen Sarwar, Wife of the Governor Punjab was the chief guest of the ceremony held in Health Sciences Campus. After the luck draw, Mrs Parveen Sarwar handed over keys of the scooters to three students.

Mrs Sarwar was briefed that Women Foundation of the University is actively working for the welfare of TUF community since its inception in 2008. Recently, the Foundation has launched its society “Stay Safe”. Members of the society under the umbrella of Women Foundation are working on the project to make the University “Plastic bag free” institute.

Mrs Sarwar in her address to faculty members and students appreciated the efforts of TUF for women empowerment in the country. She also visited different departments of Madinah Teaching Hospital and lauded the services of Madinah Foundation in health and education sectors.

Eye Screening Camp by School of Optometry

One day free eye screening camp was conducted by School of Optometry (OD 4th semester) in Madrassa Dar-ul-Quran Faisalabad on February 11, 2019. More than 700 students were screened out for visual functions.  Free medications as well as eye therapy treatment was provided to all.
