On the third day of nutrition month celebrations, Nutrition Society arranged a “Female oriented nutrition camp” for the female students of TUF on March 30, 2018. Future dietitians of the DND did free assessment of the students and provided them general guidelines as well as eating plans.
The University of Faisalabad organized Mass Marriage for 30 couples under the auspices of Madinah Foundation on March 30, 2018. Prof Dr Zahir Javed Paracha, Pro Rector Engineering Campus, TUF was the Chief Guest of the event. Renowned religious scholars Sahibzada Raza ul Mustafa Noori and Qari Niaz Ahmad offered Khutba Nikah, Qaseeda Burda Sharrif and Qaseeda Ghosia. They prayed for newly wedded couples.
The marriage expenditure of 30 orphan and deserving girls from Faisalabad and surrounding areas was borne by Madinah Foundation. The couples were given dowry and more than 1500 guests were served lunch. Administration and Students of the University participated enthusiastically in the arrangements of the event. Members of Women Foundation, The University of Faisalabad presented gifts to the brides. The guests appreciated the services of Madinah Foundation and The University of Faisalabad for this noble cause.
On the second day of nutrition month celebrations, Nutrition Society of TUF organized a talk and debate on “Future of Dietitians” on March 29, 2018.
Renowned dietitians Ms Surraiya Ikhtiyar and Ms Beenish Sarwar khan were present to guide the future dietitians. A very effective and healthy discussion took place actively participated by the students of DND. Students asked questions about their future and got effective ideas.
Prof Dr Syed Jawad Hussain, Head School of Nutrition and Dietetics thanked the guests and presented them University mementos.
Department of Community Medicine, UMDC organized a poster competition amongst the 4th year MBBS students on March 28, 2018. The purpose of the competition was to stimulate students to develop innovate skills to showcase their community projects and encourage networking among medical students. Students participated enthusiastically in this contest and made posters on various community related health issues. Prof Dr Haji Muhammad Aslam, Prof Dr Abdul Haque, Assistant Prof Dr Liaqat Ali and Assistant Prof Dr Saba Tariq were the judges. Prof Dr Mohammad Saeed, Principal UMDC also graced the occasion and appreciated the students’ efforts. Prof Dr Zahid Masood, Head Department of Community Medicine congratulated the winners and distributed prizes.
Seminar on “Nutrition in Emergency Situations” was conducted as a part of Mega Nutrition Event-2018 on 28th March in Health Sciences Campus. Prof Dr Syed Jawad Husain, Head School of Nutrition and Dietetics along with faculty members and students of DND actively participated in the event. Students of 8th semester threw light on the repercussions of malnutrition on health, through multimedia presentations, short play and model presentations.
Religious Society of The University of Faisalabad organized a seminar to commemorate birth anniversary of Syedna Imam Ali Naqi (Alaeh-i-Salaam) and death anniversaries of Hazrat Khawaja Awais Qarni (Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho), Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho) and Khawaja Mooinuddin Chishti (Rehmat-Ullah Alaih) in Health Sciences Campus.
Students from School of Islamic Sciences delivered talks on the services and teachings of these great personalities of Islamic history.
A seminar on “Latest Trends in IT and Business” was held at both campuses of TUF on March 19, 2018. The purpose of the event was to introduce the emerging trends in Information Technology and Entrepreneurship to motivate the youth to put their efforts in the right direction.
The resource person was Mr Muhammad Siddque from USA. He has vast experience in IT and Entrepreneurship and rendered massive services in Global Social Media Authority, Mass Publicity Influencing and as Entrepreneurial Philanthropist.
He enlightened the students about the fact that development of any country depends on Economy and it is agreed that the Industrial age has converted into Information age and more recently the Information age has converted into economic age. The students of Computer Sciences and Management Studies particularly attended the informative session.
One day workshop on “Neonatal Life Support” was organized by Department of Paediatrics in Madinah Teaching Hospital. The aim of the course was to increase resuscitation skills of post graduate doctors, house officers, nurses and paramedical staff. The course was conducted by Associate Prof Dr Aisha Sajid, Assistant Prof Dr Sohaib Riaz and visiting consultant Dr Ahsan Ahmad. At the end of course, the participants were tested by the faculty and successful candidates were given certificates by chief guest, Dr Rana Bashir Ahmad, MS, MTH.
Addressing the course attendees, Dr Bashir Ahmad said that such courses and workshops are of vital importance in saving newborn lives and they should be organized regularly. He also congratulated the paediatric department team for successful completion of this important session.
For the “20th All Pakistan Inter-University Declamation Contest for Award of Allama Iqbal Shield” under the aegis of Higher Education Commission, Literary Society of TUF organized Intra-University English and Urdu Declamation contest on March 12, 2018.
The topic of Urdu debate was “khacray sai jo lash mile hay wo hum saab ke hay” and “I would prefer to die than to surrender” for English debate.
Mrs Rahat Asad was the chief guest while Mrs Tasneem Kousar, former Principal Government Degree College for Women Faisalabad was guest of honour. According to the decision of judges the results were as follows:

International Women’s day on 8 th March, is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to
celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role
in the history of their countries and communities. TUFIANS celebrated the day on this years’ theme;
“Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”.
Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar and President Women Foundation alongwith other faculty
members, staff and large number of students were present in Health Sciences Campus to celebrate the
day organized by Community Services Society and Women Foundation of TUF.
Speaking to the audience Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Pro Rector, told that our religion
Islam gave women rights that women in any other religion or in the West have only recently began to
Ms Zahida Maqbool in her address threw light on the role and importance of the women for the
progress of a nation. She emphasized on female students to devote themselves to their studies to play
their role more efficiently for the progress of their motherland.
On the occasion, guest speakers from Pakistan Motorway police, Ms Sana Yasin, Inspector, Rana Irfan
Ahmad, Inspector SPO and Mr Javed Iqbal, from Mobile Education Unit in their talks enlightened the
students regarding traffic rules and road safety measures could be taken to avoid traffic accidents.
Students presented a tableau, a documentary, delivered speeches and displayed posters to sensitize the
audience about odds and obstacles women have to face in the society. The message of women’s rights
was marvelously depicted by the commendable acting of the students. Cake cutting ceremony was also
held to mark the day.
