Religious Seminar

A seminar on the death anniversary of two great Muslim personalities “Hazrat Mulana Jalal – uddin Roomi (R.A), = Sultan – ul – Arefeen  Hazrat and  Sultan Bahu (R.A)  was held under the auspicious of Religious Society of School of Arabic and Islamic Sciences, on February 21, 2018 in seminar Hall at Engineering campus of the University of Faisalabad. A large number of students and faculty members participated in the functions.

The Seminar began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Afterwards, Naatia verses were presented in the praise of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) The guest speaker, Dr Muhammad Ramzan Najam Barvi, presented a brief sketch of life history of both the Islamic Sufis and threw light on their high place in Islamic History and their verses in a very attractive and impressive manner. He added that Hazrat Sultan Bahu (R.A) was author of 140 books.

Afterwards, Mr Hamid Nawaz Sheikh, Controller of Examination was invited to express his views on both the great personalities. He described some other aspects of their achievements. He advised the students to follow the teachings of both the great personalities.

The functions ended with Salat-o-Salam and dua.

In the end, the guests and faculty members were given refreshment.

Pakistan Nuclear Regularity Authority team visits

Pakistan Nuclear Regularity Authority (PNRA) team visited Madinah Teaching Hospital for their annual inspection and audit of radiological facilities on February 15, 2018. The visit was conducted by Major (Retd) Izhar ul Ahsan, Registrar, TUF, Dr Rana Bashir Ahmad, MS, MTH and Prof Dr Nayab Alia, HoD Radiology. Team members, Senior Scientific Officers, Mr Akhtar Muhammad and Mr Sajid Ali visited state of the art Radiology Department.  They were satisfied and  highly appreciated the radiation safety measures and good practice of Radiology in MTH. They emphasized on quality control and periodic training of radiographers and practice of ALARA. Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Principal UMDC presented souvenirs to the guests.

Sports Gala ended with mesmerizing Musical Night

The closing ceremony of Annual Sports Gala was held at Engineering Campus followed by live performance of Abrar ul Haq at mesmerizing musical night on February 16, 2018.

The mega event was presided by Prof Dr Zaheer Javed Paracha, Pro Rector Engineering Campus.  Mr Muhammad Farooq Yousaf, Senior Vice President, FCCI was the chief guest while Engr Ahmad Hassan, Chairman Standing Committee on R&D FCCI was guest of honour.  In first session, the winners of final rounds of different sports and athletic competitions including, cricket, volley ball, basket ball, foot ball, handball, table tennis, badminton, tug of war and athletics were awarded with trophies and medals by the chief guest. Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar, Mr Hamid Nawaz Sheikh, Controller Examination, Heads of Schools, faculty members and large number of students were present in the ceremony.  Final trophy for overall best performance was won by Electrical Wolves while Computer Eagles remained runner up. Mr Adnan Ali from Electrical Wolves won the best sportsman award of the year. Management Stallions were declared the most disciplined team of the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Muhammad Farooq Yousaf appreciated the TUFIAN’s active participation and sportsmen spirits. Dr Zaheer Javed Paracha stressed on the importance of sports and co-curricular activities for the students, in his address.

In second session, renowned singer Abrar ul Haq enthralled the TUFIANS with his Sufiana Kalam.  Abrar ul Haq sang number of songs and received an immense applause and admiration from the audience.

World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day is observed worldwide on February 4 to aware the public about prevalence of cancer, exposure to risk factors, prevention, early diagnosis and treatment modalities.
Department of Pathology, University Medical & Dental College has been celebrating world cancer day since last 10 years by adopting different awareness strategies. This year a poster competition was arranged among the students of 3rd year MBBS under supervision of Dr Asma Naseer Cheema, Associate Professor of Pathology. The students did extraordinary work by professionally presenting different posters from published research literature on different types of cancers.
The chief guest, Dr Sumera Ehsan, Assistant Professor, Faisalabad Medical University appreciated the student’s and teacher’s efforts. A panel of judges, Prof Dr Abdul Haq, Prof Dr Tanzeela Khalid, Associate Prof Dr Shirza Nadeem, Dr Sundas Tariq, Dr Saba Tariq and Dr Shazia Aslam evaluated the posters. The best posters and presenters were awarded with shields & certificates by Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Pro Rector, Health Sciences Campus. He encouraged the students and faculty of Pathology department for organizing such an outstanding academic activity.

Awareness seminar on “Seasonal Influenza”

A seminar on “Seasonal Influenza H1N1” was organized in The University of Faisalabad on February 14, 2018. Speaking on the occasion Prof Dr Zahid Masood, Head Department of Community Medicine, UMDC shared signs and symptoms of seasonal influenza and different precautionary measures. He further added that there was no treatment for this viral infection.
Earlier, Dr Sumera Shahzad spoke on recent surge in cases of H1N1 flu in some parts of Punjab. She added that this disease is seen more frequently in winter season. Students from different disciplines asked questions and appreciated the efforts of the university administration for organizing this awareness session.

Awareness walk with slogan “Say No to Salt”

WHO recommends salt consumption of 2000 mg per day which makes less than half a tea spoon. Nutrition Society, TUF arranged a walk to raise awareness of the risk of increased salt consumption. Prof Dr Faqir Hussain, Dean Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences along with other faculty members led the walk. Students were holding the banners and display cards bearing the messages regarding the damaging effects of too much salt.
Addressing the students Prof Dr Faqir Hussain said, excessive consumption of salt in our diet can damage the heart, aorta, and kidneys without increasing blood pressure, and that it may be bad for bones, too.

Emergency Service Rescue 1122 on “Basic Life Support”

Rehabilitation Society under the umbrella of School of Rehabilitation Sciences organizes two day workshop by Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 on “Basic Life Support” was held at Saleem Campus . Mr Muzammil Hussain; Rescue & community instructor gave precise description on basic life support procedures & a demonstration session was also conducted. Students practiced all the techniques at the end of session

Seminar on “Road Safety Awareness”

Road Safety Club, TUF organized a seminar on “Road Safety Awareness” in Engineering Campus on February 9, 2018. Chief Guest of the event, Syed Hussnain Haider (PSP) Chief Traffic Officer, Faisalabad delivered a very informative lecture to the students and faculty members about traffic rules and regulations.

Moreover, Mr Imran Sharif, DSP Head Quarter CTP and Mr Waqas Ali,  Incharge Education Unit CTP Faisalabad in their presentations told the audience about road environment and road safety measures.

Prof Dr Zahir Javed Paracha, Pro Rector, TUF (Engineering Campus) in his address, emphasized the importance of organizing such awareness sessions particularly for young students.

The event was well coordinated by Mr Muhammad Ishfaq, Assistant Professor School of Electrical Engineering and Incharge, Road Safety Club.
