The concept of celebrating world food day is not new to the School of Nutrition and Dietetics. The School arranged a memorable event in light of this years’ world food day theme i.e. Change the future of migration by investing in food security and rural development on October 17, 2017. The guest of honour Dr Mian Kamran Sharif from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad delivered an insightful presentation on food security in Pakistan. Students participated in various ways including documentaries, skits , lectures and mimes to honour the day and to deliver the associated message alongside. The event successfully achieved its target of spreading awareness among people about the prevalence of hunger and ways to alleviate this burden.
A workshop on “Impact of Teacher’s Behavior on Students’ Self- regulation” under the umbrella of ORIC was organized on October 14, 2017 for the faculty members of all Schools of TUF and UMDC in Health Sciences Campus.
Dr Shahid Tufail, Chairperson Department of Business Administration, GC University, Faisalabad was the facilitator. A well structured session focused on such important aspects as impact of teacher’s performance on students’ behavior, self-efficacy of a teacher as well as generic methods of delivery in the class. The session was well attended and appreciated by all the faculty members.
World Renowned Qaris, Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali from Pakistan, Qari Gandam Nazad Tusi from Iran, Qari Mehdi Nijati Taha Ismaeel from Egypt and Qari Tahir Usman Alvi from USA visited The University of Faisalabad for the recitation of Holy Quran on October 10, 2017. A large gathering of faculty and students from TUF and UMDC were mesmerized by the recitation of holy Quran in its classical glory by these Qaris.
The Orientation session of students of semester I is scheduled on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 9 am. Day Scholar students are required to reach the university at 08:00am and Hostel Residents students are required to reach hostel of the university on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 by 05:00pm.
Retinal diseases are among the most common causes of vision loss in the global working population. School of Optometry, The University of Faisalabad observed World Retina day on October 03, 2017. Students of Doctor of Optometry distributed flyers among the patients in Madinah Teaching Hospital to enlighten the importance of the day and to raise awareness of eye health and vision care among the public.
Owing to the growing inclination of people towards junk food, students of Doctor of Nutrition and Dietetics (semester VII) arranged food stalls where they presented food which was not only appealing to the eye but carried with it numerous nutritional benefits. The idea behind this initiative was to spread awareness among people about the ways through which they can incorporate healthy yet flavorsome foods in their diet by making use of cost-effective ingredients. As part of the HEC celebrations, this idea proved to be a success and garnered praises from the judges who had come to evaluate their food items.
15th anniversary celebrations of TUF are being held in the University. A cake cutting ceremony in an august event was organized in Health Sciences campus to mark the day.
Speaking at the event, Maj (Retd) Izhar ul Ahsan, Registrar and Prof Dr Aamir Ali Chaudhry, Vice Principal, UMDC said that Madinah Foundation, in the light of its Founder Chairman Haji Muhammad Saleem’s, vision; industry, service and education, had set an extraordinary example of what it means for business leaders to give back to the community.
They highlighted the values that had sustained the university, the people who had shaped it and its enduring mission of service through teaching, research and civic engagement. They said that since its inception in October 2002, TUF had seen tremendous growth.
Earlier, Prof Dr Zahid Masood, in his address focused on the 15 years progress and achievements of the University.
A large number faculty members, staff and students were present in the ceremony.
School of Pharmacy observed World Pharmacists Day in Health Sciences Campus on September 27, 2017. Dr Farooq Azam, Head Department of Pharmacy, University of Agriculture Faisalabad was the chief guest while Dr Ghulam Hussain, Plant Manager, Saffron Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd was guest of honour. They expressed their views about the role and importance of pharmacists in the field of health and other related walks of life. On this occasion, an awareness walk to highlight the impact and added value of the pharmacy profession and its role in improving the health of people was also arranged by the School of pharmacy.
School of Pharmacy, TUF organized a workshop on “Recent Innovations of Pharmaceutical Services” on September 26, 2017 in Health Sciences Campus.
Dr Tahir Mehmood, Chief Hospital Pharmacist, DHQ, Sargodha was the guest speaker. Speaking to the audience, Dr Tahir Mehmood delivered a comprehensive lecture on recent innovations in the field of Pharmaceutics. The session was very useful and informative for the students of School of Pharmacy.
