Screening of Refractive Errors by OD

According to WHO, leading causes of blindness in children are uncorrected refractive error, amblyopia and strabismus. Knowing its significance, School of Optometry arranged one day study tour for screening of refractive errors in the students of Govt High School Satellite Town Chiniot. All students of OD 5th semester alongwith their faculty members visited the school and conducted activities to screen out refractive error and symptomless eye condition. Two hundred students from primary to secondary level were screened out from general stream lined classes and were guided about their refractive status and effects on their eyes. Multiple vision screening tests were performed like, visual acuity, color vision, convergence insufficiency, EOM, anterior eye examination, Hirschberg test (corneal reflex test), pupil reflex and visual field by confrontation method.

The result of that useful learning day was that out of 200 students 150 students were evaluated with decreased vision and multiple ocular and vision problems and remaining 50 students were normal.


Mehfil-e-Mushaera on “Manaqib-e- Ehl-e-Bait Athaar (AS)”

Following its traditions The University of Faisalabad organized a Mehfil-e- Mushaera on “Manaqib-e- Ehl-e-Bait Athaar (Alaehimus-salam)”  to pay homage to martyr of Syedna Imam Hussain (Alaeh-i-ssalaam) and his companions.  Mushaera for females was organized by School of Arabic & Islamic Sciences in Health Sciences campus on September 28, 2017. The event presided by Dr Shahida Yousaf and participated by eminent poetesses included Prof Dr Saeeda Resham, Prof Dr Ansa Saeed Awan, Dr Naseem Sehraee, Prof Razia Usmani, Assoc Prof Mrs Ambreen Ashaar, Asst Prof Mrs Samina Khalid, Asst Prof Mrs Razia Sajjad, Syeda Tayyaba Rubab, Mrs Samina Raees, Mrs Bushra Naz, Mrs Rubina Kausar, Mrs Gulfam Naqvi, Mrs Shamim Zafar Rana and Dr Kalsoom Akhtar. The spiritual program was well coordinated by Mrs Shamim Zafar Rana and Ms Humera Kkahlil.

The event culminated with Drood o Salam and Dua.


Scholarships Award Ceremony

TUF motivates its students using provision of scholarships as a tool. On the occasion of 15 years celebrations of HEC, scholarship award ceremony for the students was held in Health Sciences Campus on September 26, 2017.
Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector distributed the meritorious scholarships and distinction certificates to promising TUFIANS in a graceful event held in Amin Auditorium. The event concluded with cake cutting ceremony.

Whiz Whale 17, Entrepreneurial Gala

School of Management Studies, TUF organized ‘Whiz Whale 17, Entrepreneurial Gala’ in Health Sciences Campus on September 26, 2017. The event aimed to encourage the students to take creative initiatives.

Mrs Amna Khurram, Creative Directive of KHAS, graced the event as chief guest. Mrs Amna Khurram, Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector and Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar alongwith other faculty members visited the stalls setup by the students from different disciplines. Students projected and simulated the idea of launching their companies. The event showcased some brilliant examples of student entrepreneurship.

A group from BBA-V projected and simulated the idea of electronics items by launching their company “ Simplitronix” got first prize in the competition. Another group of students also from BBA-V illuminated their efforts by presenting their unique idea of “Tea time” was the 2nd while BBA students with idea of “ Dross Cafe “ remained third.

Mrs Amna Khurram appreciated the talented TUFIANS. These are the young people who take on challenges and find solutions that will radically change the way we do business, she further added. The winners were given away the prizes by the chief guest.


Intra University Table Tennis Championship

In context of HEC 15 years celebrations, TUF Sports Society organized Intra University table tennis championship on September 18, 2017. Students from various Schools of TUF participated in the competitions. Urwa Munawwar and Aqsa Niazi from Doctor of Physical Therapy grabbed first position after a thrilling final competition.  Pharm D team consisting of Iqra Shah and Iqra Lateef was the runner up.

International Day of Peace

The University of Faisalabad celebrated International Day of Peace on September 21, 2017.

Chief guest of the event Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector, in his address to the students said that our religion Islam means peace, love, justice, and equality. Peace is a basic need of humanity and we must work for the betterment of humanity and protection of human rights, he further added.

Students presented documentaries on this years’ theme “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All” by the students.

Another student presented a ghazal on the theme of peace with related visual effects.

TUF Dramatic Society presented a skit performance with the theme of atrocities being committed on the inhabitants of Kashimir and Barma. Painting and digital poster competition was also arranged by the Art Society. Photography Society held an exhibition of photographs and quotations highlighting the idea of peace and tolerance, appreciated by the visitors. Winners of competitions were awarded certificates by the Rector.

The event was followed by an awareness walk led by Prof Dr Abdul Majeed and Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar.

Workshop on “Clinical Refraction”

School of Optometry, TUF organized a one day Workshop on “Clinical refraction” for students of OD 5th semester on September 14, 2017. Assistant Prof Ms Sidra Gillani from DHQ Teaching Hospital Sahiwal and Ms Shumaila from Allied Hospital Faisalabad were guest speakers.

Two sessions were conducted. First session included hands on training of Optometric instruments and second session comprised of presentations, skit and documentary.  In concluding session, the guest speakers were awarded University mementos.

Open House in Engineering Campus

Felicitating HEC on its 15th Anniversary and to provide a more personalized experience to students and parents, The University of Faisalabad, organized its Open House at Engineering Campus on September 15, 2017.The students and their families were provide with an opportunity to interact with faculty members, staff and on-campus students to discuss their academic plans and goals. Senior Management and faculty shared their views with students and guided them to choose right career paths. They were also-informed about the exciting prospects that exist within the university. Student-led tours of the university were also conducted throughout the day.

Various Schools of TUF also organized projects exhibitions to provide an insight to students and parentsabout the learning environment of the university. A large number of students visited the campus. Senior management andfacultyincluding Rector, Prof Dr Abdul Majeed,
Pro-Rector,ZahirJavedParacha and Deputy Registrar Col (Retd) AbidMushtaq were also present on the occasion.

World Physical Therapy day celebrations

School of Rehabilitation Sciences organized a series of events to celebrate World Physical Therapy day on September 6-8, 2017 in Health Sciences Campus. Musculoskeletal Screening Program, workshop on “Movement Based Joint Mobilization; An Overview”, quiz competition, skit competition, poster and model competitions and other activities were conducted.

Day 1

School of Rehabilitation Sciences with collaboration of TUF Rehabilitation Society and under the supervision of faculty members organized a one day Musculoskeletal Screening Program in Health Sciences Campus on September 06, 2017.

Senior semesters were involved in Screening of administration and faculty members TUF, MTH and UMDC. Another group of students also screened students including musculoskeletal assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan. During the event students distributed brochures with ergonomic counseling and exercise plans.

Day 2

School organized a one day workshop on “Movement Based Joint Mobilization; An Overview” on September 07, 2017 by  Resource person Dr Hafiz Muhammad Waseem Javaid; PT, from Shalimar Hospital and Institute of Health Sciences. He was also a Physical Trainer in National Rugby Team.

He discussed concept of Mulligan’s Techniques and Manual Therapy application on patient having joint stiffness and several other soft tissue conditions. After the hands on practice question answer session was held following the students’ feed back.

At the end of the session shield was awarded by the director of ORIC Prof Dr Abdul Haq and certificates were distributed to the participated students.

Day 3

School of Rehabilitation Sciences in collaboration with Rehabilitation Society organized final celebrations of World Physical Therapy Day on September 8, 2017.

The event was inaugurated by Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector, accompanied by Prof Dr Zaheer J Paracha, Pro-Rector  and Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar.

During the event Poster and Model competition as well as skit competition was held among different semesters of undergraduate students on the topic of “Active for Healthy Life” who showed excellent presentations.

An Intra-university quiz competition was also held between the DPT students of The University of Sargodha and The University of Faisalabad in which students of The University of Faisalabad took the winning position.

Judgment was done by honorable chief guest Dr Shaista Bano; PT Head Department of Physical Therapy, DHQ Hospital.

After the competition certificates were distributed to the 1st 2nd and 3rd position holders of all competitions and shields were awarded to students who organized the series of events.

The celebrations were concluded with cake cutting ceremony and awarding shield of honor to the chief guest by coordinator of School of Rehabilitation Sciences, Assistant Prof Dr Nazia Sarfraz; PT.


Mehfil-e- Mushaira on the martyrdom of Hazrat Usman Ghani (RA).

 TUF Religious Society, under the auspices of School of Arabic and Islamic Sciences organized a Mehfil-e-Mushaira in commemoration of martyrdom of Hazrat Usman Ghani (Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho) in Engineering Campus on September 13, 2017. The event was presided over by Mr Hamid Nawaz Sheikh, Controller Examination. Eminent poets of the city, Kousar Ali, Bismil Shamse, Sajjad Latif Chisti, Ahmad Shehzad Khawar, Saghar Shehzad, Sarwar Khan Sarwar, Muhammad Riaz Qadri, Tabasum Qadri, Mehmood Mufti and Syed Bisharart Mumtaz Mufti paid rich tributes to the third caliph of Islam Hazrat Usman Ghani (Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho).
