Computronic World – Women Rock in IT

The University of Faisalabad held an interuniversity competition “Computronic World – Women Rock in IT” on October 31, 2016 in order to provide a safe platform to girls for a healthy competition. Students from UCP, UAF, GC, FAST and Shiblee College participated in the competition and projected various software and websites. Dr Abdul Hyee, Director at Computer Center FESCO and Ms Sadia Anwar, Head Department of Computer Science, Government College for Women Faisalabad were theGuests of Honour.
Students performed skits and gave brief presentation regarding the achievements of women in IT field. Various stalls were also arranged by the students from different Schools of TUF.
Shields were awarded to the first three position holders and all participants were awarded with participation certificates. This mega event was organized by IT Society of TUF.

Orientation programs for fresh entrants

An orientation and welcome session was conducted for first semester students of The university of Faisalabad on October 31,2016.

The heads of schools and deputy registrar col (R) Abid Mushtaq , additional registrar prof. Muhammad Ashfaq and controller examinations Mr Hamid nawaz sheikh  informed the new Tufians about The University of Faisalabad’s highly qualified and experienced faculty and its state of art infrastructure through which quality education is being provided  to students in an enviable environment. The fresh entrants was informed  that co curricular activities are also given due importance in the university.

The orientation session was attended by the first semester students .Later the students visited the library ,labs and other academic facilities provided at the campus. The concluding remarks were offered by Dr A.D chaudhary has he Stressed on the fact that young mind must pay proper attention to their education in order to derive optimum dividends from their capabilities.

Right to Sight

School of Optometry organized a four day event “Right to Sight” at Health Sciences Campus. On the closing day on October 28, 2016, renowned Ophthalmologist, Dr Qaisar Hanif Sheikh was the chief guest. Prof Dr Aamir Ali Chaudhry, Head, School of Optometry, Dr Basim Mubarik from Madinah Teaching Hospital and Ms Kalsoom Rani, Coordinator School of Optometry were also present on the occasion. Students of Optometry gave presentations on “Contrast Sensitivity” and on the data they collected from three day screening camp held in the Campus. Students took part in model competition and displayed different models depicting various aspects regarding visual health. On the occasion, Students of Doctor of Optometry also presented a skit on “Right to Sight”. Speaking to the students Dr Qaisar Hanif threw light on the role and scope of the optometrists. ‘Ophthalmologists and Optometrists go hand in hand, in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the eye and visual system, he elaborated. He appreciated the efforts of the students of Optometry for organizing this event and distributed trophies to model competition winners.

Table Tennis Tournament

The University of Faisalabad Open Table Tennis Championship was organized from 28 to 31st October, 2016 under the supervision of Deputy Director Sports Malik Asghar.30 players from all departments and faculty participated in the tournament. Mian Hamza from Electrical Department got the first position in singles and Saad Farooq got 2nd position. Where as in the doubles Mr.Atif Mushtaq and Khuram secured first position. The Deputy Registrar Col (R) Abid Mushtaq was the chief guest who awarded prizes amongst winners.

Fresh Entrants Orientation

An orientation program was conducted for the fresh entrants of The University of Faisalabad over the span of 3 days. On the first day Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Rector TUF Additional Registrar Ms Zahida Maqbool, Controller Examination Hamid Nawaz Sheikh, Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Dean Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, Prof Dr Faqir Hussain, Dean Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Heads/Coordinators of all the Schools of TUF in their welcome addresses informed the new TUFIANS about the institute and other welfare projects of the Madinah Foundation. They said that with its state-of-the-art facilities, purpose built campus, qualified faculty and a comprehensive curriculum, the University offers a great opportunity of higher learning to the youth of this country. TUF also emphasizes on such development and extracurricular activities that improve awareness and refine talents. Refreshment was served to the students at the end of the session. Second day of orientation to the fresh entrants started with addresses from Ms Munazza Saboor Asst Librarian and Ms Rabia Ahmad Asst Controller Examination. In their addresses they informed the learners about facilities available in the library and the basics of examinations. Ms Saria Jabeen Asst Registrar Student Affairs provided and helped the students with enrollment forms. Controller Examination Mr Hamid Nawaz Sheikh addressed the students in length and discussed all the rules and regulations of examination. Students also performed skits for the entertainment of newcomers.On the third of orientation to the new comers Ms Aleezay Ajmal Asst Social Media briefed the students about the TUF’s social media and Ms Maria Ashraf Manager Finance informed the students about the role of finance department. Maj (Retd) Arshad Qureshi Chief Security Officer informed students about the latest facilities that are employed for the security of the university. Talking to the Students Ms Zahida Maqbool Add Registrar of TUF said that I am very much hope full that new students will abide by the rules and regulations of the university and will work hard for their academic goals. Students were also introduced to all the extra curricular societies of TUF being run by the students. They were encouraged to join the societies based on their interests.

Workshop on “How to Manage Resistance to Change”

One of the most baffling problems which academicians face is resistance to change. Department of Medical Education, UMDC organized a workshop on “How to Manage Resistance to Change” in Health Sciences campus, TUF on October 26, 2016 to help our faculty to cope such problems regarding to change.

The facilitator for this workshop was Prof Dr Alam Sher Malik. He is serving as Dean, Faculty of Medicine in Quest International University, Perak, Malaysia and is highly respected for his contributions in the field of Medical Education. After the workshop the participants were of the view that now they would be able to communicate more effectively towards managing resistance to change.

Mehfil-e Mushaera on Manaqab Imam Zain ul Abideen (A.S)

School of Arabic and Islamic studies arranged a Mehfil-e –Mushaera  on Imam zain ul Abideen (A.S) on Oct 26,2016. Prominent poets  including professor Hassan Askari Kazmi , Kausar Ali , Muhammad  Afzal  khaksaar Bismal Shamsi , Ahmad Shahbaz  khawar , professor Riaz Qadri and many others offered munaqiba. Musahira  was attented by large numbers of students and faculty members .

World Food Day

World Food Day was observed for two days in The University of Faisalabad. At the first day Students from The School of Nutrition and Dietetics presented documentaries and plays regarding to World Food Day. Prof Dr Abdul Majeed (Rector TUF) Ms Zahida Maqbool (Add Registrar) presided over the event and awarded certificates to the winners. Second Day was followed by different food stalls in which students prepared healthy and nutritious foods for the masses.

Free Posture Screening Camp By School of Rehabilitation

Free Postural Screening was delivered to all students, faculty members and administration staff by the Body Health and Fitness Club under the umbrella of School of Rehabilitation. Professor Dr Muhammad Saeed, Dean Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences visited the camp and appreciated the efforts of School of Rehabilitation in making the members of TUF even more physically fit.

Poster Competition held by School of Rehabilitation Sciences

The School of Rehabilitation Sciences organized in collaboration with Rehabilitation Society, a poster and model competition amongst undergraduate students on the topic of “Rehabilitation Strategies in Physical Therapy”. 18 groups of 50 students participated in the event in which students showed excellent presentation on different diseases and injuries. The event was inaugurated by Rector of The University of Faisalabad Professor Dr Abdul Majeed accompanied by Professor Dr Muhammad Saeed, Dean Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences, Mr. Kiyaani Director Press & Publications and Additional Registrar Miss Zahida Maqbool. After the competition cash prizes and certificates were distributed to the 1st 2nd and 3rd position holders.
