TUF Sports week started on 11th March 2016. Colorful kits, flags, local drumming, balloons and music along with youthful exuberance and gusto created a memorable air of festivity. During the entire week various events were played and a large number of students and faculty members participated enthusiastically.
Closing ceremony was held on 17th March 2016. Rector Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Dean Faculty of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Principal UMDC Prof Dr AG Rehan, Additional Registrars Prof Muhammad Ashfaq and Ms Zahida Maqbool, Director Press and Publication Mr Saleem Kayani, Controller Examination Mr Hamid Nawaz, Deputy Registrar Col(R) Abid Mushtaq participated and distributed prizes among the winners and runner ups.
Among various categories the awards were won as following
- Electrical Engineering – 1st Position
- Computer Sciences – 2nd Position
- School of Management Studies – 3rd Position
- Best player of Sports Week Award– Amir Shahzad from BEE
- Emerging player of Sports Week – Waqas from BChe
- Fair play Trophy – Management Studies
- Musical Chair – Mr. Harris, Lecturer Management Studies
- 100 Meters Race – Yaseen from School of Computational Sciences
- Short Put – Ali Raza from BEE
Students and other faculty members of TUF and UMDC visited stalls setup on different themes organized by the students and appreciated the students’ efforts to highlight different social aspects of national life. Stall set up by the students of Pharmacy achieved first position and BBA was runner up, while from UMDC, MBBS 3rd year students stood first while 4th year remained runner up.
124 medals, 13 trophies and certificates were distributed. Mr. Muhammad Imran (Olympian), Current Captain Pakistan Hockey team was the chief guest. A spectacular musical event was arranged in the evening on the closing day. Students participated in the event to show their skill and talent, they were joined by the faculty members as well.
Internship UMDC Session 2010-2015
A function on “Learning and Personality Development” was organized by Student Welfare Foundation Society TUF on 4th March 2016.
Mr Saleem Kayani, Director Press and Publication was the chief guest. Mr Hamid Nawaz Controller Examination, Mr Asgher Sidduiqi HOS Textile Engineering and Mr Muhammad Arif from Civil Engineering were present.
Dr Khalil Ahmad the keynote speaker said that learning is a continuous process as a result of which the personality develops. Youngsters should focus on initiatives which can help them improve their personalities and make their mark in the society. He stressed upon the students to utilize their energies to the full in order to compete in the current day competitive environment. The event provided a lot of food for thought and generated inspiration amongst the students.
A seminar on “Hazrat Khalid Bin Waleed (Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho)” and “Muhammad Bin Qasim (Rehmat-U-Allah Alaih)” was arranged on 3rd March 2016. Controller Examination Mr Hamid Nawaz was the chief guest. Speaker Syed Azfaar Haider Shah explained the great successes achieved by these warriors of the faith.
He said that Hazrat Khalid Bin Waleed (Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho) was a great soldier of Islam who devoted his life for the services of Islam. His valour and bravery was admired by Hazrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) and gave him the title of ‘Saifullah’.
Muhammad Bin Qasim (Rehmat-U-Allah Alaih) defeated the ruler of Sindh Raja Dahir and continued the journey of successes till the end. Through his efforts he not only conquered the areas but also won the hearts of local people as well. The guest speaker appreciated the glorious gallantry of these towering icons of Islam.
School of Arabic and Islamic Studies TUF arranged a seminar on “Wisal of Hazrat Imam Zain Ul Abideen(Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho)” on 2nd March 2016. Director Press and Publication Mr Saleem Kayani was the chief guest.
Speaker Dr Mahfooz Ahmad HOS School of Arabic and Islamic Studies TUF dilated upon the virtues associated with this exalted personality. He highlighted the sterling character, grand achievements and glorious services rendered to the cause of Islam by Hazrat Imam Zain Ul Abideen (Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho).
Chief Guest Mr Saleem Kayani stressed upon the fact that the young generation should follow the footsteps of such noble personalities who stand out as lighthouses for all times to come. Seminar ended with Darood O Salaam and Dua.
