A seminar on Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique (Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho) was held on 31st March 2016. The guest speaker, Professor Yousaf Irfan, a well known columnist and author of many books, delivered a moving, and through provoking lecture on the life of Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique (Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho).
He dwelt at length on the lofty traits of the personality of Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique (Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho), his sterling services to Islam, and the ordeals he had to face. The speech was followed by a question answer session. The questions by students were indicative of the interest sparked by the speech. Rector TUF Dr. Abdul Majeed was the chief guest.
A Condolence gathering was held in The University of Faisalabad on the sad demise of innocent people in Gulshan e Iqbal Park Lahore.
Rector Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed Dean Faculty of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, Director Press and Publication Mr Saleem Kayani, Controller Examinations Mr Hamid Nawaz expressed deep grief over this tragic incident and condemned this tragic, brutal and heinous act of terrorism. They said that the whole nation stands united against terrorism. Heads of Schools, faculty members, staff and all the students, present on the occasion extended their deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims.
The participants offered Fateha for the departed souls and prayed for the promotion of peace and stability in their beloved country. They said that they stand in solidarity with the grieved families.
Prof Dr Shabbir Ahmed Lehri, President Pakistan Medical & Dental Council visited University Medical & Dental College on March 26, 2016.
During the meeting with Mian Muhammad Hanif, Chairman BOG, TUF, Prof Dr Shabbir Ahmed was given an overview on different ventures undertaken by the Madinah Foundation viz University Medical & Dental College, The University of Faisalabad, Madinah Teaching Hospital and other welfare initiatives. He visited different labs, library of the University and affiliated Madinah Teaching Hospital.
Prof Dr Rana Bashir Ahmad, MS, briefed about the infrastructure of the hospital and health services being offered.
President PM&DC lauded the state of the art facilities being provided to the students and was pleased to comment “I appreciate the efforts of Chairman Board of Governors of TUF to establish such an institution in record period of time and I hope Insha-Allah in the recent future this will be the best institution of the country”.
The Department of Dermatology, UMDC organized a PAD CME Activity in collaboration with Pakistan Association of Dermatologists on March 26, 2016. Leading Dermatologists from different parts of the country gave comprehensive talks on several dermatological/skin diseases. Prof Dr Azam Bukhari, Head of Dermatology Department, Shalimar Hospital Lahore, Col (Retd) Dr Asher Ahmad Mashhood, Consultant Dermatologist CMH Peshawar and Prof Dr Ijaz Hussain, Head of Dermatology Department, King Edward Medical University were among the key speakers. The seminar was highly informative and was heavily attended by dermatologists and other doctors not only from Faisalabad but also from Islamabad, Lahore, Jhang, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh and other cities.
An event to celebrate the Pakistan Resolution Day was arranged on 22nd March 2016 by TUF Literary Society. Kashif Azeem from BEE recited the verses from Holy Quran and Farooq Ahmad BEE offered Naat.
HOs School of Textile Engineering Mr Asghar Siddiqui expressed gratitude for the efforts made by the founders of Pakistan. Muneeb Mustafa from BEE offered Ghazal, Umar Azmat BEE presented a poem, Mughees Ahmad from DPT and Sameer Ahmad from BChe delivered speeches. Video documentaries were also shown which kept the audience spell bound.
All present, pledged to work hard in order to make Pakistan a united and a prosperous nation. Rector Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, the chief guest in his address appreciated the efforts made by the society on the arrangement of this event.
March 20 is observed as “World Head Injury Awareness Day” under WHO. University Medical &Dental College organized a seminar to create awareness among the youth. The event was presided by Prof Dr A G Rehan, Principal UMDC/ Head Department of Surgery, Madinah Teaching Hospital, while Dr Akmal Hussain, Neuro surgeon, Allied Hospital Faisalabad was the guest speaker.
Dr Saira Saleem, Asst Professor Department of Surgery, in her address highlighted the aims and objectives of observing the day. Dr Akmal Hussain said that Pakistan has high road accident rate and due to the lack of awareness of road safety measures and inadequate medical facilities particularly in rural areas. Pakistan is facing highest average of Trauma. They said that according to a report by WHO, road traffic accidents kill at least 5000 and injure 12,000 persons in Pakistan every year. About 1.2 million people are killed and 50 million are injured due to road traffic accidents each year worldwide.
Prof Dr A G Rehan was of the view that head injury is one of the most frequent causes of death in road traffic accidents. Most of the deaths occur on spot before any life support can be given to these subjects.
The experts stressed the need of fastening the seat belts while driving and use of helmet during the biking. They suggested that by adopting the safety measures these fatal head injuries can be avoided.
The University of Faisalabad always focuses on the weal and woe of the poor down trodden masses. In furtherance of this objective, a free physical therapy camp was arranged on 17th March 2016.
A number of services were provided free of cost. Professionals from the fields of physical therapy, nutrition, orthotics and prosthetics were present to offer free of cost services. Apart from these major services, various other ancillary services like BMI calculation, BP monitoring, Blood tests (Hb/ Iron) were also offered. A large number of patients were checked and were provided consultation to improve their health. Following the previous practice, free medicines were handed over to the needy patients. Students and faculty members also visited to get awareness of this program chalked out for the disabled persons. Rector Professor Dr Abdul Majeed, Director Press and Publication Mr Saleem Kayani, Controller Examination Mr Hamid Nawaz and Deputy Registrar Col(R) Abid Mushtaq also visited the camp.
Guests from Egypt visited The University of Faisalabad on 16th March 2016 for the recitation of holy Quran and Naat.
These included Fazilah Al-Shiekh Qari Aadil Albaaz, Fazilah Al-Shiekh Mahmood Yousaf Aqal and Fazilah Al-Shiekh Qari Jamal Alsyed Hasnain Khalid. A large gathering of faculty and students were mesmerized by the rendition of the recitation of holy Quran in its classical glory by these maestros.
A seminar on University Academia Linkages was arranged on 15th March 2016. Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Engr Jawed Salim Qureshi was the chief guest who emphasized that academia industry linkage is the need of the hour.
In his address he said that without this cooperation, development and progress is not possible. Industrialists must take initiatives to foster the research and development culture in the universities. Development in the economically advanced countries of the world could not have taken place without this academia industries close liaison.
Chairman BOG Mian Muhammad Hanif in his address also highlighted the importance of research. President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce Chaudhry Muhammad Naawaz, Rector TUF Prof Dr Abdul Majeed, Acting Rector NTU Prof Dr Tanveer Husaain and Ex-President FCCI Engr Rizwan Ashraf also vehemently endorsed the hand in glove academia industry cooperation for achieving beneficial milestones in the development of the country. Engr Jawed Salim Qureshi also inaugurated the new high voltage laboratory of The University of Faisalabad.
