‘’One run can change your day many runs can change your life’’. World Physical Therapy week is celebrated across the globe each year in September to create awareness and acknowledge the role played by Physical Therapist in making their society and community healthy, mobile and independent. World PT day was organized at The University of Faisalabad, Health Sciences Wing from 4th September to 8th September. Different activities were conducted by DPT students in order to illuminate the significant role played by physical therapists. Day 1: Inauguration was done by worthy Chief Guest Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed, Pro Rector Health Sciences Wing and Ms Zahida Maqbool, Additional Registrar. Inter-semester competitions were held in different categories i.e. poster, presentation, model, skit and documentary competitions. Day 2: On 2nd day, one day free Physical Therapy camp was organized at Madina Teaching Hospital. Dr Rana Bashir Ahmad, MS MTH inaugurated the camp activity. Camp had the following objectives: 1. To assess the patients and evaluate them 2. To provide free of cost medicine 3. Free tests including BMI, BP, hepatitis and uric acid 4. To educate the society Day 3: On 3rd day a seminar was organized on the topic of ‘Mental health and Physical therapy” not only for students of physical therapy but also for students other disciplines. Dr Nazia Sarfraz;PT was the resource person. In her lecture she threw light on mental health and different factors influencing it. Moreover she highlighted the role of physical therapist in improving physical and psychological health. Day 4 & 5: A two days’ workshop on ‘’Acupuncture in pain management of musculoskeletal conditions’’ was organized. Acupuncture is being used across the globe. Understanding its importance and positive effects in pain management of musculoskeletal conditions school of Rehabilitation Sciences The University of Faisalabad organized a workshop. Resource person Dr Muhammad Khan;PT delivered comprehensive talk on the topic. Alumni and Postgraduate students attended this informative session. The celebrations were culminated with cake cutting ceremony. Winners of poster, presentation, model and skit competitions were awarded with trophies and certificates.
