VISION

Impart education and training in individuals on research-based interventions towards developing new functional foods in attainment of better nutritional status and prevention of disease.

MISSION

Interpret and translate the science of nutrition and dietetics into practical information. Implant nutritional knowledge to promote nutritional status, improve food choices, and well-being of the community. Promote a culturally diverse research environment by providing enhanced nutrition education and skills. Develop ability to self-manage nutritional and clinical care in the community.

OBJECTIVE:

The graduates will know about human nutrition and dietetics, food use in society, food science, nutritional assessment, clinical dietetics, and community and public health nutrition research.

The graduates will also acquire the professional skills and ability to:

  • Interpret and translate the science of nutrition into practical information
  • Conduct timely and appropriate clinical and nutritional assessment
  • Manage nutrition care in clinical and community settings
  • Influence and contribute to a safe, secure and nutritious food supply
  • Manage self-development in the area of nutrition and dietetics

ABOUT US

The Department of Dietetics and Nutritional Sciences, formerly known as Nutrition and Dietetics, was established in 2012 within the premises of the Health Sciences Wing. Its primary objective was to launch a 10-semester graduate degree program leading to the degree of Doctor of Dietetics and Nutritional Sciences (DDNS). Additionally, the department offers a post-graduate degree program of M.Phil and DOCTOR OF PHILOSPHY PhD in Dietetics and Nutritional Sciences.

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the department conducts practical and research-based experiments in its therapeutic food product development and nutritional chemistry laboratories. The faculty comprises highly qualified and conscientious individuals holding Ph.D. and M.Phil degrees in the subject. They are committed to imparting the best possible subjective knowledge to the students.
