The core objectives of the programme are:

• To enable students think critically and express themselves through analytical writing.

• To provide the students with modern and the latest trends in studies of English Literature and Literary Theory.

• To develop a high level skills in research for successful writing of a well documented thesis on a self-chosen topic.

Role and Scope

Master of Philosophy is a research based degree. It provides advanced research skills and experience which are valued by many organizations. It is an important degree if a candidate wants to conduct research in the field of one’s interest. Possession of the degree is obligatory for most positions in academic and educational institutions worldwide.

With a Master of Philosophy degree in the subject you have specialized in, the scope is unlimited. It opens up wide opportunities of employment in academic circles. The research work done in the programme allows a candidate pursue a doctorate (PhD) in the respective subject or course. A degree permits a candidate seeking employment in various organizations nationally and internationally with much higher start up salary packages as compared with the applicants having Bachelor degrees.
