Awareness Seminar Being Organized on 'World Diabetes Day'

School Nutritional Sciences, TUF in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine, UMDC organized an awareness seminar to mark the world diabetes day. Speaking on the occasion Prof Dr Zahid Masood highlighted the importance of theme “Families and Diabetes”. According to a recent study, there were 16% diabetics and 10% were Pre diabetics in Pakistan, he added Prof Dr Akmal Sharif labelled Diabetes as an epidemic.

Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed Pro-Rector, TUF concluded the session advising the audience to practice a healthy lifestyle. Students from the School of Nutritional Sciences presented an impressive skit according to the theme of the diabetes day. A large number of students and faculty members attended the seminar. This was followed by an awareness walk. World Diabetes Day takes place on the 14th of November every year. It has grown from humble beginnings to become a globally celebrated event which increases awareness about diabetes. Comprising hundreds of campaigns, activities, screenings, lecture, meetings and more, World Diabetes Day is proving internationally effective in spreading the message about diabetes and raising awareness for the condition. This Day is internationally recognised and is an official United Nations Day.
