Masters of English is an advanced learner degree program that relies partially on some pre existing knowledge of literature and linguistics. It aims at developing English language competence and performance of the learners, as well as enabling them to comprehend the intricacies of English language and its teaching.
The program has been designed to meet the requirements of English language teaching, while coping up with the diversity of international standards of schooling. So far, numerous graduates of MAE have been successfully placed in various educational institutions, both public and private, as English language educators as well as teacher assistants.
A large number of English graduates prefer to undertake research, while others use the communication and analytical skills they develop through English language and literature in a variety of careers. These include advertising, acting, publishing, teaching, librarianship, public relations, journalism, the legal professions, management consultancy, editing, freelance writing, forensic acoustics, syllabus designing, language policy making, language pathology, speech therapy, media presentation, writing, and literary criticism.
